Cervical Epidural Injection
CERVICAL EPIDURAL INJECTIONS IN IRVING FOR NECK AND HEAD PAIN RELIEF
If you suffer from chronic neck and head pains, headaches, cervical radiculitis or spinal stenosis, Thrive Pain Management provides cervical epidural injections in our Irving office. Through the use of epidural steroid injections, this common procedure helps alleviate pain, inflammation and irritation inflicted upon your spinal nerves by nerve compression in your neck (cervical spine).
This type of pain management treatment is typically recommended after a more conservative approach involving rest, physical therapy and/or over-the-counter pain medications has failed to produce the desired results.
HOW DOES THIS PAIN MANAGEMENT PROCEDURE WORK?
Similar to a lumbar epidural steroid injection, we’ll first clean your back with an antiseptic to prevent infection and apply a local anesthetic, so you won’t feel the injection. The needle is inserted into your cervical epidural space and a dye is usually injected to ensure we’ve positioned the needle correctly. Finally, we’ll inject the steroid medication to help reduce your pain and inflammation. For some patients, significant pain relief may be achieved in just one injection, while others will require multiple procedures performed weeks apart for best results.
RESUME NORMAL DAILY ACTIVITIES AGAIN
This type of injection brings short-term pain relief so that patients can resume normal daily activities like exercise to obtain more long-term pain relief. Considered a low-risk outpatient procedure, you may experience bleeding, nerve damage, a mild skin rash or an infection after a steroid injection. However, the risks are very minimal. Resume normal daily activities without the pain thanks to cervical epidural injections at Irving’s Thrive Pain Management.
