Regenerative Medicine
Harnessing your body’s own healing power to repair damaged tissue, reduce inflammation, and restore function — without surgery.
What Is Regenerative Medicine?
Traditional treatments for chronic pain — cortisone injections, pain medications, and surgery — often mask symptoms rather than heal the underlying damage. Regenerative medicine takes a fundamentally different approach: it activates and amplifies your body’s own repair mechanisms to rebuild damaged tissue at the cellular level.
Dr. Dunson uses advanced ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance to precisely deliver regenerative therapies directly to the site of injury, maximizing effectiveness while minimizing discomfort. These are non-surgical, minimally invasive outpatient procedures with little to no downtime.
Stem Cell Therapy
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) harvested from bone marrow, adipose (fat) tissue, or potent umbilical sources are injected into damaged joints and tissue. These cells act as the body’s natural repair unit — signaling tissue regeneration and reducing chronic inflammation at its source.
Stem cell therapy is particularly powerful for conditions that have failed to respond to traditional treatments, offering patients a true alternative to joint replacement surgery.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP is created from a small sample of your own blood, which is spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets — the cells responsible for clotting and healing. The resulting plasma is rich in growth factors that stimulate tissue repair and collagen production.
PRP is widely used for tendon injuries, joint degeneration, and sports injuries. Because it uses your own blood, there is no risk of rejection or allergic reaction.
Conditions We Treat
- Knee osteoarthritis and cartilage degeneration
- Hip arthritis and joint pain
- Shoulder injuries (rotator cuff, labrum)
- Chronic tendon injuries (tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy)
- Spine degeneration and facet arthritis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Sports injuries and soft-tissue damage
What to Expect
Regenerative procedures are performed in our Irving office as outpatient treatments. Most sessions take 60 to 90 minutes. Using real-time ultrasound or fluoroscopic imaging, Dr. Dunson ensures precise delivery to the target tissue.
Many patients experience gradual improvement over 4 to 12 weeks as the healing process unfolds. Some respond more quickly. Dr. Dunson will create a personalized plan and set realistic expectations based on your specific diagnosis and history.
